FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are the recipes on Fiver Feasts actually checked by a nutritionist?

Yes. Every recipe is written by Harman Bajwa, a UK-registered nutritionist (AfN) — the cost-per-serving and macro figures are calculated from real USDA nutrition data and hand-researched UK supermarket pricing, not estimated. See our "How We Cost Recipes" page for the full methodology.

How is the cost per serving worked out?

Each ingredient in a recipe is priced against typical UK own-brand supermarket costs and summed for the quantity actually used, then divided by the number of servings. It reflects real cost, not a flattering average based on the cheapest possible pack size.

Is Fiver Feasts a vegetarian recipe site?

No — unlike NutrificientLife's main recipe library, which is vegetarian-first, Fiver Feasts is built from whatever's cheapest and quickest for UK budget cooking, including meat and fish. Vegetarian and vegan recipes are tagged individually so they're easy to filter for.

What's the cheapest way to eat well on a budget in the UK?

Leaning on tinned pulses, frozen veg, eggs, oats, and batch-cooked mince or chicken thighs, rather than pre-made convenience meals, is consistently the cheapest way to eat a balanced diet. Our Student Meals and Budget Under £5 categories are sorted by real cost per serving if you want to see this in practice, starting from well under £1 a serving.

Can I use these recipes if I have a medical condition or specific dietary need?

The recipes and their macro information are general nutrition education, not a clinical diet plan. If you have a diagnosed condition (such as diabetes, IBS, or a food allergy), please check with your GP or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet — a registered nutritionist can support general healthy eating, but clinical dietary management sits with your GP or a dietitian.

Do you offer personalised meal plans or one-to-one nutrition advice?

Not on Fiver Feasts — this site is a free recipe resource. Harman offers one-to-one nutrition consultations through NutrificientLife, her main practice, if you'd like personalised support beyond a recipe.
